This is also a summary reminder that minimum wage increased from 1 October 2009 to:

  • £5.80 for workers aged 22 years or more

  • £5.80 for workers aged 22 years or more

  • £4.83 for workers aged 18 to 21 inclusive

  • £3.57 for workers aged under 18 (but above compulsory school age)

Other changes include:

  • HM Revenue & Customs' Business Payment Support Service will continue to be offered to tax payers experiencing cash flow difficulties, which can help to spread the cost of PAYE / NI liabilities

  • All National Insurance Contributions to increase by an additional 0.5% from 6 April 2011. This is in addition to 0.5% increase in NIC rates declared in 2009 Budget that is effective from 6 April 2011. However, the increase will remain at only 0.5% for incomes up to £20,000
